First-time Setup Instructions
Assuming the inspection is done and everything is in good condition, you may begin connecting everything together. However, there is a logical process that will make the setup a bit smoother:
1. First, you will need to locate a suitable location for the NVR to reside. This location must be well ventilated and away from moisture and dust as much as possible. Moisture and dust can cause the system to fail prematurely. You'll also want to keep the NVR and Ethernet cables away from major sources of equipment emitting lots of EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) such as power lines, refrigerators, TV's, etc.
2. Make sure the NVR is off (switch in the off position or if there is no switch just leave it unplugged for the moment). Connect the monitor to the NVR and power on the monitor and only the monitor at this point.
3. Next, connect the USB mouse to the USB port on the back and an Ethernet cable into the LAN port of the NVR. The other end of this Ethernet cable is to be connected to the router that has internet access.
4. With the monitor, mouse and internet cable connected turn on the NVR. When the NVR boots up it will have the startup wizard, you can go through the wizard or exit the wizard but, the wizard will setup what we will need anyway so it's your choice. Once you login with the default password (123456), it will prompt you to change it. Please change the password to a strong password at this time.
5. After changing the password, the next item to configure is the NVR's system time. Enter the menu and navigate to System>Time. Click the DST tab and enable it, then set correct date, time and time zone and apply the changes. When the DST comes around the system will automatically update to the corrected DST time.
6. With the time and password set, you may begin connecting cameras to the system. The NVR will automatically add them and there is no need to do anything but wait. The cameras are little computers and will need approx. 2~3 minutes give or take to power up, boot, talk to the NVR and the NVR register the cameras and begin decoding the live stream and begin recording.
That's it! With the time correctly set, the NVR will begin recording video under the correct time and date.
REVO Ultra Plus (RUP64/128)
Correct connections.
When using the 64/128ch Plus Series REVO Ultra NVR, the only items that should be connected to LAN2 on the back of the NVR are PoE switches with cameras!
The only exception is if troubleshooting needs to be done and direct IPC web interface is needed.
Do not leave the computer plugged in! Once you’re done troubleshooting, remove the PC from the camera Network.
Never bridge the PoE switches to the normal LAN (i.e. connection used day to day for personal or work use). It will not work, and you will have problems connecting.
